The primary founding documents of the United States begin with the Declaration of Independence, published July 4th, 1776, followed by the Ariticles of Confederation, November 15th in 1777, and culminating in the United States Constitution, signed September 17th 1787, ratified on June 21, 1788, becoming the offical framework of the governement of the United States of America.
Links to each of these documents are provided on the drop down portion of the ‘Documents’ tab which also includes links to the documents that were a historically significant influence on the thinking of the American founding fathers in shaping the “American Mind,” and the political theory they subscribed to in creating our founding documents. The links to documents that were inspired by the founding documents, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, along with our state constitutions are also included and many more resources. Its important for each citizen, candidate, and representative to read and have a working knowledge of our founding documents.
